Salt Situation Analysis

Production

Iodized salt is available from Cameroon , the chief supplier.

Consumption

  • Estimated daily per capita salt consumption: no data
  • Estimated % of all salt consumed by people which is adequately iodized (household level):   no data

  • Year Enacted: n/a

Program Monitoring and Evaluation

A program exists in the Ministry of Health, evaluated in 1998. The program was evaluated in 1999 and it showed a reduction in total goiter rate. Urine samples have not been analyzed yet.

Other Interventions

Schoolchildren in isolated zones with high IDD prevalence were given iodized oil capsules .
